Each offers the unparalleled quality of life that comes with living in southern
California, as well as being close-knit communities that offer a sense of serenity
and security. Each has a pleasant small town atmosphere while lying within easy
proximity to a variety of bustling cities and lazy beach towns dotted along the
Pacific coast.
Located on the Santa Ana River, the city of Orange encompasses nearly twenty five
square miles and continues to grow. Over the next twenty years, the city will
continue to expand to the east where the city maintains a sphere of influence
extending to the county line. City officials expect that, as more and more people
choose to live in Orange, new home development will continue eastward, particularly
around Irvine Lake. The main focus of both residents and city officials continues to
be maintaining the small town atmosphere of Orange, with a strong emphasis on
staying true to the values upon which the town was founded.

The neighboring city of Villa Park is equally charming, albeit much smaller in
population and geographic size. Encompassing just two square miles, Villa Park
is the smallest city in Orange County. It supports a population of approximately
6,000 residents, whose median age is 44 years old. The annual household income in

Villa Park is almost entirely comprised of single family homes. With the exception
of one shopping center, the land here is zoned for homes built mostly on half-acre
lots. This is the kind of city where neighbors maintain friendly relationships
with one another, and is the welcoming and friendly community of a bygone era.

occupations, all enjoy the serene living of Villa Park. In fact, this area not
only has four public schools within walking distance, but holds the record for the
lowest crime rate in Orange County.
The centerpiece of most public and social activities in the city is the Villa Park
Women's League, which has been in continuous operation since 1969. The mission of
the group is to provide "support, friendship and a focus for the citizens of Villa
Park" as well as "to promote safety, education, beautification and cultural
enrichment" within the boundaries of Villa Park. This group is largely responsible
for the majority of social and recreational activities in the community,
encompassing everything from bridge to bowling, gourmet cooking to golf. The
Women's League is the group perhaps most responsible for maintaining the
friendly air of Villa Park, and their tireless efforts are evident throughout
the town. With nearly four hundred members, new residents can expect to receive
a hearty hello from one of the League's women.
